This webinar aims to give an overview of the processes involved in getting a promotion to Deputy Head and Headship.

The New Year is upon us and we have taken a stock take of where we are.

The desire to take on new responsibilities and create new challenges to grow your career is there. The webinar introduces a Head and Vice Principal who will discuss how to create a skill set for promotion, how to identify what areas you would like to focus upon and what challenges you will meet on the way.

Speakers:

Simon Fisher, Headmaster, Dover College

Simon is Headmaster of Dover College, a co-educational day and boarding school for 3- to 18-year-olds. Before taking up the headship, he was Deputy Head (Academic) at Worth School for five years. Simon is passionate about the use of technology to enhance learning and teaching, and recently oversaw the implementation of a 1:1 iPad scheme at Dover College. He is married to Abi and they have two young children, Bertie and Daisy.


Louise Chamberlain, Vice Principal, CATS Cambridge

Louise has a BSc Honours degree in Applied Microbiology from the University of Nottingham and went on to a PGCE at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Her entire career has been focused on the holistic formation of children and young people. She has taught Biology to A level and IB Higher level as well as writing and delivering modules in Bioethics, Forensic Science and PSHE. Louise’s experience in boarding started when she became Head of Biology at Worth School in West Sussex; over the course of 14 years at Worth, she was promoted to Assistant Head Welfare and then Deputy Head Pastoral before moving to the international setting of CATS College Cambridge as Vice Principal. She has extensive experience of developing safeguarding culture in boarding including delivering training. In her spare time, Louise is currently pursuing a Diploma in Death and the Ancient World at ICE Cambridge University, has over ten years’ experience as an A level examiner and has recently become a primary school governor. Louise has a partner who is supportive and understanding of what is involved in being on SLT in a boarding school, two adult children and a large extended family.
